Survey Q: Why DO you or DON’T you use earth friendly cat litter?
I’m doing a project about cat litter waste and it’s affects on the environment. I need some consumer opinions about buying cat litter products:

When buying cat litter what’s more important to you?

litter that is more affordable?
litter that comes in a bag, jug, or box?
litter that is biodegradable and safe for our earth?
Are you willing to pay more to be eco-friendly?

The more detailed your answer, the more helpful! Thank you!!

    I don’t because
    1. I didn’t know they exist
    2. Turns out no where near me sells it.

    Important to me
Affordable, box is nice, and for multipule cats, no dust.
No I am not willing to pay more.

I use the litters that are biodegradable, but not because they are eco friendly. In all honesty, I just like a litter that is flushable and clumps, and the biodegradable ones usually fall into those categories. I don’t mind paying extra for the easier cleanup. I currently use world’s best cat litter, if you are interested in its eco-friendly aspects, I’ve left the website below.

There are lots of kinds of litter. Go to the pet store and you will see a whole row of different litters. There is clay, wood, crystals and newsprint pellets. I think your purchase usually depends on how much you can spend, what the cat will use and what will smell the least in use. An expensive litter is not good if the cat won’t use it. There is a system that requires your training the cat to use the toilet like humans. Haven’t tried it yet, but you would not even have to buy litter if you did the training. It is up to you to choose what will work with your cat.

    Several reasons.
Most of the "earth friendly" litters I’ve tried are too light and the cats don’t like them. In addition. they do not control smell as well and even though some are allegedly scoopable, they do not clump well.

The earth friendly litters (biodegradeable) are very costly and when added to the poor results they deliver, they are not worth the difference in cost. Cost is, unfortunately a very important factor – the more that I spend on litter the less I can spend helping the cats until they find their forever homes.

On the other hand, with pregnant queens or kitten, I do use compressed pine pelleted litter -however, since the "cat litter" – such as feline pine etc – is so expensive I buy pine horse bedding – which runs in my area around $6.00 for 40#…much more economical.

there’s an earth friendly cat litter now?

  7. SLITHREN says:

I live in the country and my cat goes poopy in the bush – can’t get much more earth friendly that that.
