McCain’s Green Economy: Drill, Baby, Drill
When it comes to the environment, John McCain only has the interests of Big Oil at heart. That’s why he has over 22 Big Oil lobbyists advising him. That’s why he favored lifting the moratorium on off-shore drilling — a move that prompted Big Oil to donate over million to his campaign. And thanks to the League of Conservation Voters, we’ve got the proof! The senate will likely be voting next week on these issues. Please call Senator McCain’s office in Washington (202-224-2235), and tell him to stop siding with Big Oil and start supporting clean energy. Make everyone aware of McCain’s deep ties to Big Oil by forwarding this video to five people and telling them to do the same.

Just as starving children in Africa, slaves in sweatshops, etc.
Because it is not the best for an investor to sell a product human suffering?

organic baby clothes

I'm looking for those used with care hemp or organic cotton baby clothing, the colors. Any suggestions where?
I I live in St. Paul, Minnesota. I've looked on Craigslist and ebay fumbled, but have not had much luck. There is a store called Peapod, but all organic cotton / hemp / Bamboo fabric baby clothes are super expensive. I do not want to spend that much when my girl 3 months old, only going to end up spitting up or pooping in some more / of these garments. At the same time, however, I would like to "go green" with my baby. So recommendations? Please and thanks!

eco friendly diapers

Does it make sense to use biodegradable diapers or diaper bags …?
If you are using some or no diaper pampers / diapers Ecological others? I hope to use only disposable nappies / diapers for the first couple of months with my baby, then expected to try reusable. Can not see the point of using a biodegradable bag the diaper inside is not going anywhere soon? I fully realize the benefits of washable nappies organic, but I heard from several sources is better to wait a month or two before testing, since the staying power newborn poop …
The new shit born apparently is bad enough, but you can get disposable bags for reusable nappies can work. I personally I have a diaper size BumGenuis disposable reusable bags to go on top (they come in a big roll and may be expelled or flushed), but depending on how big the baby, including BumGenius are a little too big for the first few weeks. I am also thinking about using a natural oil in the bottom to help ensure that it is easier to clean, and disposable diapers for the first week or two until they comply with the BumGenius. SO …. Yes, it is "bad" to pull out any of this, so anything used is biodegradable is good. (To be rapidly degraded bag, maybe diapers can begin to degrade faster as well?) I know how feel – I feel bad about using any disposable diapers before they can move him / her in the Resus – and made sure to find biodegradable / disposable liners up for a really nasty dirt while making the change. FYI – BumGenius diapers I tried my nephews, one is about 1.5 months of age, and the other near 2 years – and great fit, were easy to change, and washing in the laundry. Neither they were leaking. They cost a little more up front, and save you tons money throughout the ages – as the large size of the works up until they are out of diapers. It is worth looking into if you have not found a guy you like and still expect the child resuables move within one month after birth. Good luck and whatever you do to help reduce waste disposal is good, so do not stress if you do end up taking a little – and thanks for trying to use biodegradable products in any way:)

Organic Baby Skin Care – How to Choose
Green Baby News – The Nappy Question
According to 2003 figures from the Women’s Environment Network, it takes on average 22,250 MJ of energy, 75,000 ha of land for raw materials and 70 cubic metres of waste water is needed to manufacture enough disposable nappies for just one infant over the course of 2.5 years. Meanwhile, Jannine Barron, founder of Nature’s Child, an online retail store for natural and organic baby products, estimates that disposables can cost a family more than $3500 per child.
Cloth nappies also have a substantial impact due to the amount of water and resources it takes to launder them. A UK study done by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) indicated that under ‘average’ conditions, a traditional cloth nappy had a greater environmental impact of 570 kg when compared to a disposable nappy that they measured to have an impact of 550 kg. The study highlights ‘the importance of laundry choices for re-usable nappies in cutting their impact,’ said a spokesperson from DEFRA.
The study assumed that only three quarters of nappies were line dried and the remainder were tumbled in a drier. Washing nappies in fuller loads or line-drying them outdoors all the time was found to reduce impact by 16 per cent. The nappies were also assumed to be used on only one child when re-using nappies for a second child reduces the impact by another 24 per cent.
Meanwhile, modern innovations have taken nappy production to new heights. Many varieties of eco-friendly nappies are now available, such as Weenees disposable eco-pads or Eco-bots, a disposable nappy endorsed by Planet Ark, which use bio-degradable wood pulp and modified corn starch bioplastics.
The Dirty Lowdown on Disposable Nappies
Consider these sizable facts on disposable nappies:
• Nappies are the third most common item, by volume and weight, in American, UK, European, Japanese and Australian landfills.
• According to Choice consumer magazine, 95 per cent of Australian babies wore disposable nappies in 2007. In China, only 6 per cent do; in India, 2 per cent.
• It takes over 10 full sized trees to produce the number of nappies your baby will use in its first couple of years.
• Production of a single disposable nappy requires 2/3 of a cup of petroleum. This adds up to over 3 billion gallons (1134 billion litres of oil) per year dedicated to disposable nappy production.
