NJN’s Going Green Episode 1
Episode 1 Geraldine R. Dodge Building Morristown, NJ For more than 30 years, the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation has nurtured people, ideas, and institutions which transcend self-interest and contribute to a sustainable human society and the environment which shelters it. The idea of moving to a green office space grew out of a desire to live their values as carefully as they fund them. NJN’s new Web Series Team visited the new building while it’s still under construction and learned a great deal. Interviews with David Grant, Presidents of the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, and Peter Maszczak, part of the Project Management Team, Blanchard show what the building has done so far and what will continue to happen to make this building “green”. This web series was inspired by NJNs one-hour high definition special Green Builders that profiles a cast of green building pioneers who have taken the leap into making their part of the built environment a more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly place. www.njn.net

Urban Homestead – Self Sufficiency Wrap Up w/ Jules Dervaes
To live as simply as possible, to live in harmony with nature. All things are possible to a certain extent. The modern technological world has made its people its subjects; it has made them ignorant and keeps them in ignorance. We are basically ignorant, ignorant of the basics–where does our food come from? Where does our water come from? And importantly, where do our wastes go? We live cut off from ourselves because of this lack-of-touch with the natural things. And our foundation is weakened, and there is no way we can build onto the self in such a state. So I must go back as far as I can. I must find out where to get water to drink. Can I afford to wait any longer to begin this back-track? Should I gather more accessories and build up a secure foothold first in this world? What do I need? I need only land and water–so I can live. Why do other people Want more, and why do other people want me to have more. I want less and less. If I am alive and learning, what more? I need to learn how to grow food. How long should I wait to do this? I am 25 1/2 Jules Dervaes Jr, 1973

What are some easy ways to go green?
What are some simple changes that will help me to start being more "green" or organic?
Use halogen lamps (I think that's what they are called). They are the twisted look weird. They are energy efficient however. You can buy at your local Walmart, Target or a grocery store usually. Unplug appliances not in use. Example: Toasters, video games, but computers do not. Unplug the equipment is obviously not good … However, some appliances use energy outlets, even when not turned on! If you must go to the store to buy a few things, take a cloth bag with you. Did you know that it takes more than 500 years by a plastic bag to decompose?! That is very bad for our environment. do not use recycling bags, and try not to contact the first place. Here are some simple ways. If I can think of any more, I'll tell you.

When green tea how much water in a cup of coffee should be poured to add the tea bag? Do I have to fill?
Only half the road? I'm not sure how much water they have in the cup when I go to put the tea bag. Thank you.
Never mind. I never had personally green tea, but I'm a huge tea drinker regular. It's probably better to add water first, but the judges how strong the drink is stirring – not quantity water when you add in the tea bag. In addition, I have never heard of microwave tea as someone else has suggested – that it is better to boil water in a saucepan to heat. It is almost exactly like making coffee with a kettle, you just add the tea after the water instead of before. Furthermore, as suggested above, normally can get two cups from a bag – the more it tends to weaken the brew.
