I mean, do you only use renewable resources like bamboo? Have you stopped using petroleum based plastic? Are you only buying in season local organic produce, or better yet, growing your own? Do you have rain gardens, solar panels, and a bicycle that gets more use than your car?
Your Assistant: So you’re saying you don’t make any dent by changing your personal habits in order to ease the burden? Sure, we need to develop alternative fuels but in the meantime, why not do whatever you can to lessen your personal eco-footprint. I take it you don’t go camping, do you?

How do I get my school to go green?

This summer my friend and I really got into the whole going green thing. We have recycled even more, planted a tree, hugged trees (lol), and started doing those small things around the house. I love helping out with the environment and since school is starting I want my school to go green. How can I make this idea expand and work? I have thought of putting recycling bins outside and have small bins in classes. Also maybe turining off lights to conserve energy. Is it expensive to get solar panels for the school. My middle school did it, but i honestly do not know how. If you have any ideas to help me out that would be great.

As some people may not know, today is earth day. I am all for using a windmill and some solar panels because if you make enough power then you can even sell it to the power company. The habits we make now are going to be the ways for our next generations.

I want to build a enviro-friendly "green" house. Where can I find plans and costs for LEED and green homes?

I need architechtural plans and realistic way to cost out a "green" home less than or about 2000 or so sf.

Here is what I want:
-passive solar
-Depending on costs:
–gray water recycling
–under floor radient heating
–consider alternative construction like straw bale/rammed earth or modular
–recycled materials for insulation
–bamboo
–natural materials
–solar panels
–heat pump
I’d really like to do it right but I’m of moderate income and single middle aged woman.

I need it to be affordable. I’m in Alabama and few do this. I need to keep humidity and heat and climate in mind.

Under or around 2000 sf

Any info on financing for green homes would be welcome too;

Just looking for some general tips on living greener, things such as solar panels, etc, that won’t cost a lot to implement? Of course, solar panels cost a fortune, but it’s an example. Thanks!
